Marilyn Reid Smith to present BYU faculty vocal recital May 9

Marilyn Reid Smith, soprano, will present a Brigham Young University School of Music faculty artist recital Friday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is welcome. Kalotini Latu will accompany Smith on the piano.

To open the concert, Smith will sing “Exsultate, Jubilate” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Nell,“ “La lune blanche” and “Notre amour” by Gabriel Fauré; and excerpts from “Ariettes Oubliée“ by Claude Debussy.

After a brief intermission, Smith will perform “Wie sollten wir geheim sie halten,” “Ich schwebe,” “Befreit,” “Morgen!” and “Kling!” by Richard Strauss.

The concert will conclude with excerpts from “The Faces of Love“ by Jake Heggie and excerpts from songs about spring by Dominick Argento.
